When you think of Halle Berry you
probably think of the immense amount of charity work that she is a part of.
Halle is known as a spokesperson for many charities around the world. When
people hear that someone that they idolize is a spokesperson for a project or
charity, it often encourages them to donate, or to take a stand. They are meant
to inspire you, to get you through hard issues, but how can we do that if the
spokesperson for the charity isn't exactly telling the truth about her
situation with the cause. Aside from the fact that Halle Berry is using her
name and money to promote supporting the diabetic cause she may not be the best
fit for the job. In 1989 while shooting one of her many movies, Halle fell into
a diabetic coma. After the coma she announced to the public that she was
diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. However in 2007 she stated in an interview that
she "cured" herself from the disease. She claimed she did this by
changing her diet, by doing this she is promoting an unhealthy and false sense
of treatment for diagnosed with diabetes. This lead to a lot of sceptics and
negative views on her and the work she was doing? People started to wonder why
she was supporting this cause if she had no relation. Was she misdiagnosed? Or
was it a marketing scheme? Type 1
diabetes is not reversible, once it has been diagnosed it is a lifelong
challenge. Stopping the insulin injections is actually considered suicidal
because of the increasingly negative consequences that come along with it.
